How I photograph your event

I keep things calm and unobtrusive. I arrive early to get a feel for the venue, anticipate where the key moments will happen, and make sure I’m ready before guests properly get going. Once the event’s under way, I blend in and focus on real interactions rather than constant posing.

My approach is candid, story led event photography. That means reactions during speeches, laughter between friends, proud family members, the little details you’ve planned, and the overall atmosphere of the room. You’ll still get the group photos you need, but the backbone of the coverage is natural, true to the event.

Most bookings start around arrivals and mingling, run through the main moments (speeches, awards, announcements), and finish once the energy is up and everyone’s relaxed. We’ll plan timings together so the coverage fits your schedule and budget.

Afterwards, I select and edit your images with clean, true to life colour and contrast. Your edited photos are delivered in a secure online gallery within one to three weeks (depending on workload), with high resolution downloads and the option to order prints and products directly from the gallery.

I have been photographing events professionally since 2003, starting out in Southend-on-Sea nightlife and private parties before moving into larger events, festivals and corporate work. That depth of experience means I can adapt quickly, stay calm under pressure and keep things running smoothly, whatever the event.

Over the years I have worked at venues across Essex including The Cliffs Pavilion and The Royal Hotel in Southend, The Lawn in Rochford, Chelmsford City Racecourse and The Roslin Beach Hotel in Thorpe Bay, as well as major spaces such as the O2, ExCeL and Emirates Stadium in London. Festival and live event work has included well known names such as Boardmasters and Secret Garden Party.

Clients and projects have ranged from independent organisers and local charities through to established brands like Dune and television projects linked with The Only Way is Essex. One organiser simply said I was an “absolute legend” and that they would be using the images “for years to come”, which is exactly the kind of feedback I aim for.

Behind the scenes I work with professional cameras and lenses, carry backup equipment, record to dual memory cards and hold appropriate public liability cover, so you have the reassurance that your event is in safe hands. Event photography in Essex usually starts from £150 for the first hour, with simple packages for two and four hour coverage and the option to add extra time if you need it. Most clients book around three to four hours, which is normally enough to cover arrivals, key moments and the more relaxed part of the event.

All packages include professional editing, a private online gallery and delivery within one to three weeks depending on workload. Extra hours and a fast three day turnaround are available where timing is tight, and there is a reduced rate for registered charities. For most events you will receive your edited photos within around two weeks, usually within one to three weeks depending on the size of the event and current workload. Images are delivered via a secure online gallery where you can download the files and, if you wish, order prints or other products.

Yes, if you are booking me for a corporate event, conference, awards night or launch, the images are intended to be used for your marketing, website, press and internal communications. If you are planning a larger scale campaign or third party usage, just let me know so we can make sure everything is covered properly in advance.

The simplest way is to send an enquiry with your date, timings, location and a short outline of the event. I will confirm availability, give you clear pricing based on your plans and, if you would like to go ahead, a 30 percent deposit secures the date in my diary, with the balance usually due on the day for private clients.
