Your event, as it happened
I’m Jonathan, a photographer based in Leigh-on-Sea. I’ve photographed events professionally since 2003, from first birthdays and family celebrations to corporate evenings and festival stages. I pay attention to the people, atmosphere and small details that make an occasion yours. If you want group photographs or a little direction, we can do that too.

Event photography
I photograph birthdays, anniversary parties, corporate events, awards nights, school events and proms, charity and community occasions, live music and festivals. Events are the main focus of my work, from small private celebrations to much larger gatherings.
I follow your event as it unfolds, looking for the interactions, atmosphere, details and main moments that tell its story. The emphasis is on natural photographs, with direction where it helps and fits what you want.
Yes. Family, friends, guests and team photographs can all be part of your event coverage. We can plan groups beforehand, arrange them on the day or take one when the opportunity comes up. You decide how much or how little organised photography you want.
Event photography starts at £150 for one hour. Longer coverage is available to suit your plans. You can see the event photography prices for the full range of options.
Send an enquiry with your event date. To put together a quote, I’ll also need the venue or town, approximate start and finish times, and a brief outline of what you’re planning. You don’t need every detail settled before getting in touch.

Wedding photography
Yes. If you only want the ceremony and a little time around it photographed, Short & Simple offers one hour, 90 minutes or two hours of coverage, starting at £225. For more of your day, I offer longer wedding coverage, including four, eight and ten-hour packages. The right choice depends on which parts you want photographed.
Absolutely. My approach is to photograph your day as it happens, including the reactions, people and details around you. You can keep the coverage predominantly or entirely natural, or include family groups and lightly directed portraits. You choose the balance.

Portraits and headshots
I photograph individuals, couples and families, as well as professional headshots and personal branding portraits. Your session can be planned around photographs for yourself, your family or your work.
Sessions normally take place on location, with a suitable setting chosen around your brief and access. You don’t need to know how to pose: I can give as much or as little guidance as you prefer, whether you want relaxed photographs or something more deliberately posed.
Personal portrait sessions start at £75 for 30 minutes, including five edited photographs. One-hour and two-hour sessions are also available. See the portrait session options for what each includes.

Photography lessons
Yes. My practical one-to-one lessons suit beginners and enthusiasts who want more confidence with their camera. DSLR, mirrorless, bridge and compact cameras can all be suitable, so bring the camera you want to learn to use.
We can cover camera settings, aperture, shutter speed and ISO, composition and practical photography, with editing basics where useful. I also offer guided street-photography lessons around Leigh-on-Sea, tailored to your ability and what you want to learn.
A one-hour lesson is £90, or a three-hour tuition block is £185. The three-hour option can be split across two sessions if you prefer.

I’m based near Southend-on-Sea and regularly photograph bookings across Essex and London. I’m also available further afield, including destination weddings. Photography lessons are usually based around South-East Essex.
I’ve worked professionally as a photographer since 2003, giving me more than 20 years of experience.
