Not every event fits neatly into a package. If you need different timings, multi-venue coverage, faster delivery or commercial usage, send over the date, location and rough schedule and I’ll provide a clear quote.

Kind Words from Recent Photography Clients

I am a member of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP) and the Royal Photographic Society (RPS), with over 20 years of professional event photography experience.

What's included in my event photography packages?

Every event photography package includes natural, candid coverage, professional editing and a secure private gallery for downloading your images. The aim is simple: clear coverage, no awkward posing unless you want it, and a finished gallery that properly reflects the atmosphere of the event.

Natural event coverage

I photograph events in a relaxed, documentary style, capturing real moments as they happen. That usually means guests chatting, laughing, arriving, celebrating, reacting and enjoying themselves, rather than stopping the event every five minutes for staged photos.

Professionally edited images

Your final images are individually selected and edited for colour, exposure, cropping and overall finish. I do not send every image taken on the day, but you will receive a strong edited gallery that tells the story of the event clearly.

Private online gallery

Your edited photos are delivered through a secure private online gallery, making it easy to view, download and share the images with guests, colleagues or family members.

Optional group photos

Although my style is mainly candid, I can include group photos if you want them. These work well for family parties, corporate teams, awards nights and milestone celebrations.

Clear pricing before booking

The price is agreed before the event, based on the coverage you need, the location and any extras such as faster delivery or commercial usage. No vague quotes, mystery add-ons or “we’ll sort it later” nonsense.

Reliable event coverage

I use professional camera equipment, backup kit and dual card recording, so your images are protected from the moment they are taken. Public liability insurance is also in place for venues and commercial events.

Delivery within 7–10 days

Most event galleries are delivered within 7–10 days, depending on the size of the event and current workload. Faster turnaround may be available if agreed before booking.

Which package should I choose?

Not sure how long you need? Here’s a simple guide.

For very small events
1 hour can work if you only need a short appearance, a few key moments or quick coverage of a small gathering.

For smaller parties and simple events
2 hours is usually the minimum I recommend. It gives enough time for arrivals, atmosphere, key people and a useful mix of candid images.

For most parties and celebrations
3–4 hours is usually the sweet spot. This gives the event room to breathe and allows time for guests arriving, natural moments, group photos if needed, speeches, cake cutting, entertainment or other key parts of the day.

For corporate events, awards nights and longer schedules
4–8 hours is usually a better fit, depending on how much of the event needs covering. This works well for networking, speakers, awards, branding, guest interaction and venue details.

For full-day events
8–12 hours is best when the event has multiple parts, a longer schedule, several key moments or coverage running from early arrivals through to the evening.

Still not sure?
Send over the date, venue, rough timings and a quick idea of what is happening. I’ll recommend the most sensible amount of coverage rather than pushing you into more time than you need.

What affects the final quote

Most event photography bookings fit neatly into the packages above, but a few details can affect the final quote. These are usually practical things like travel, timings, delivery deadlines or how the images will be used.

Event location

Local Essex events are usually straightforward, but events further away, multi-venue bookings or locations with more complex access may affect the quote. This is mainly about travel time, parking, set-up time and any extra planning needed.

Timings and schedule

The length of coverage is the main factor, but the shape of the event matters too. A simple two-hour party is very different from an event with arrivals, speeches, awards, entertainment, group photos and several key moments spread across the day.

Number of key moments

Speeches, presentations, awards, performances, cake cutting, guest arrivals, formal photos or entertainment can all influence how much coverage is sensible. The more that needs capturing, the more time is usually needed to avoid rushing.

Faster delivery

Most event galleries are delivered within 7–10 days. If you need a faster turnaround for press, social media, internal comms or a business deadline, this can usually be arranged if agreed before booking.

Commercial usage

Private events are usually simple. Business events, brand activations, marketing campaigns or images needed for wider commercial use may require a tailored quote depending on how the photos will be used.

Multi-part or unusual events

Some events do not fit neatly into a standard package. If there are multiple venues, unusual timings, a large guest list or a more involved schedule, I’ll quote based on the actual coverage needed rather than trying to squeeze it into the wrong package.

Event photography pricing FAQs

Some common questions I get asked about event photography prices, booking and what happens after your event.

How much does event photography cost in Essex?

Event photography starts from £150 for short 1-hour coverage, with longer packages available depending on how much of the event you want photographed. Most smaller events work best with at least 2 hours, while parties, corporate events and celebrations often suit 3–4 hours. You can see the full breakdown on this page, or send over your details for a clear quote.

How many photos will I receive?

I select and edit for quality rather than volume — every image in your gallery will be worth keeping, rather than hundreds of near-identical shots to sort through yourself.

As a rough guide: 1 hour around 20–40 images, 2 hours 40–80, 3 hours 80–120, 4 hours 100–140, 8 hours 150–250, 12 hours typically 150–250. You can see examples of the finished results in the event photography portfolio.

How quickly will I receive my photos?

Most event galleries are delivered within 7–10 days. If you need images sooner — for press, social media or a business deadline — faster turnaround can usually be arranged if agreed before booking. Just mention it when you send your enquiry.

Can I book you for just 1 hour?

Yes, 1-hour coverage is available for very small events, short appearances or specific key moments. For most events, I usually recommend at least 2 hours so there is enough time to capture atmosphere, guests and a better variety of images. During peak wedding, festival and event season, shorter bookings may be limited when demand is high, but I'll always confirm what is possible when you enquire.

What if my event does not fit one of the packages?

That is completely fine. The packages are there to make pricing easier to understand, but I can quote for unusual timings, multi-venue events, longer schedules or specific commercial requirements. Send over the details and I'll come back with a clear quote.

Do you photograph birthday parties and private celebrations?

Yes. I photograph birthday parties, anniversaries, engagement parties, family celebrations, private dinners and other informal events across Essex. The coverage is relaxed and natural, with group photos included if needed. See the event portfolio for examples.

Do you cover corporate events?

Yes. I photograph corporate events, awards nights, networking events, conferences, brand activations and business celebrations. If the images are needed for marketing, press, social media or wider commercial use, let me know when enquiring so I can quote properly. You can find out more on the corporate event photography page.

What types of events do you photograph?

I photograph a wide range of events, including birthday parties, anniversaries, corporate events, awards nights, conferences, festivals, family celebrations, baptisms, private dinners and community events. If your event is a little different, send over the details and I'll let you know what would work best. Take a look at the event photography portfolio to see the variety of work.

Do you cover events across Essex?

Yes. I cover events across Essex, including Southend, Leigh-on-Sea, Chelmsford, Brentwood, Rayleigh, Colchester, Basildon and surrounding areas. Events further away or with multiple venues may affect the final quote.

Can you photograph dark venues or evening events?

Yes. Many events take place in darker venues, restaurants, function rooms, marquees or evening settings. I use professional camera equipment suited to low light and work in a way that keeps the atmosphere of the event rather than flattening everything with harsh flash.

Can I give you a shot list?

Yes, a short shot list is helpful, especially for group photos, key people, awards, presentations or important moments you do not want missed. I would keep it focused though, as the best event photos usually come from capturing the natural flow of the day rather than working through a long checklist.

Can you take group photos?

Yes. Although my main style is candid and unobtrusive, I can include group photos if you want them. These are useful for families, teams, awards nights, corporate groups and milestone celebrations.

Are you insured?

Yes. I have public liability insurance, which is often required by venues and commercial clients. I also use professional equipment, backup kit and dual card recording, so your images are protected from the moment they are taken. You can find out more about me and my experience here.

Is a deposit required?

Yes. A 30% deposit secures the date, with the remaining balance due before or on the day for private bookings. Commercial bookings can usually be invoiced with agreed payment terms.

How do I book?

Send over your event date, location, rough timings and a short outline of what is happening. I'll confirm availability and provide a clear quote based on the coverage needed. Check my availability here.

What happens if my event timings change?

Small timing changes are usually fine if I know in advance. If the event needs longer coverage than originally booked, I'll let you know what is possible and whether any additional cost applies before extending the coverage.
