You’ve put time into bringing people together. The photographs should show what that felt like, from the room and arrivals to the speeches, celebrations and conversations along the way.
I’m Jonathan Owen, an event photographer based in Leigh-on-Sea, working throughout Essex. I photograph birthdays, anniversary parties, christenings and family gatherings, as well as black-tie evenings, gala dinners, awards ceremonies, charity fundraisers, corporate celebrations, VIP receptions, formal dinners and launches. School events, proms, community occasions, live music and festivals are part of that range too.

I work mainly by watching what’s happening. That might be a reaction during a speech, friends catching up, an audience absorbed in a performance or someone enjoying a quiet moment away from the crowd. Your event keeps moving, and I photograph it as it unfolds.
Group photographs fit comfortably alongside that documentary coverage. We can agree a short list beforehand, arrange them on the day, or I may suggest one when the right people are together. You decide how much direction you’d like.
A running order helps me plan around the parts that matter to you. We’ll consider arrivals, speeches, awards, performances and any changes of venue, rather than automatically booking every minute on the timetable. A short appearance may need an hour; three or four hours can give more room for the main programme and the celebrations afterwards.
My Essex work includes a corporate gala at Hatfield Place and festival photography at Priory Park in Southend. I’ve also photographed at Cliffs Pavilion and Chelmsford City Racecourse, and weddings at The Lawn in Rochford. Each occasion calls for its own priorities. The person behind the camera
I’ve worked professionally as a photographer since 2003. I enjoy seeing how an occasion comes together, then finding the photographs that give you a record of the people, details and atmosphere.
You’ll deal with me when you enquire, I’ll photograph your event, and I’ll personally select and edit the finished gallery. I bring backup equipment, record to dual memory cards and securely back up the photographs afterwards.

Tell me the date, venue or town, approximate start and finish times, and what you’re organising. A rough schedule is fine. I usually reply within one working day.
I’ll check availability and suggest coverage around your priorities. Once we’ve agreed the quote, a 30% deposit secures a private event booking, with the balance due on or before the day. Business payment terms can be agreed in advance.
I personally select and edit your photographs, then send your private, password-protected gallery. You can download individual photographs or the complete set at full quality and share access with your guests.
Event photography prices
Non-wedding event photography starts at £150 for one hour, including my selection and editing of your photographs and a private online gallery with downloads.
Choose coverage around what you want photographed. Two hours may suit a shorter gathering; three or four can cover arrivals, speeches and the party afterwards. A longer programme may need fuller coverage.

Weddings are also a core part of my work, with dedicated wedding coverage.
Yes. Group photographs and lightly directed portraits can be included when they suit your occasion. We can plan them beforehand, arrange them on the day, or I may suggest one. You decide how much or how little direction you want.
Start with the parts you want photographed. One hour can suit a key moment or short appearance; three or four hours gives more room for arrivals, the main programme and celebrations afterwards. A conference or festival may need longer. Send your rough schedule and I’ll help you choose.
Yes, where my diary and the logistics allow. Send the locations and approximate start and finish times so I can plan the coverage and quote around your event.

Your complete edited non-wedding event gallery is normally ready within 7–10 working days, depending on my workload at the time. I’ll send your private, password-protected gallery, with full-quality downloads of individual photographs and the complete set.
Yes, by prior agreement. The £100 three-working-day turnaround option provides the complete edited non-wedding event gallery within three working days. Priority Select Delivery is a separate option for up to 10 urgent edited photographs, with one additional booked working hour for transfer, selection, editing and delivery. Photography coverage stays unchanged. Selects can be prepared on site or after I return to the office, depending on your schedule. Tell me your deadline so I can confirm what’s possible.
You’ll receive a carefully selected and fully edited gallery. The number depends on the length and nature of your event, what’s happening and the opportunities for photographs. I personally choose the strongest images to give you a cohesive finished set.
Yes. The standard business licence covers your own website, social media, PR and press, internal communications, recruitment and normal business or event promotion. Larger campaigns, unrelated third-party use, resale or image-library use need to be discussed and agreed first. My corporate photography page has more information.
Yes. You can share the gallery link and password with anyone you want to give access to your photographs. Where ordering is enabled, you and your guests can buy the available prints and photographic gifts directly. Purchases are optional, and downloads included in your booking remain included.
Your online gallery remains available indefinitely. I still recommend downloading and backing up your photographs when the gallery email arrives so you have your own copy.

Non-wedding event photography starts at £150 for one hour, including selection, editing and your online gallery with downloads. Longer coverage follows my event photography price options. I’ll confirm your quote once I know the date, location and approximate timings.
Your date lets me check availability. For a quote, include your venue or town, approximate start and finish times, the type of occasion and any important requirements. You don’t need every detail settled. Send an enquiry and I’ll usually reply within one working day.
Once we’ve agreed the details and quote, a 30% deposit secures a private event booking. The balance is due on or before the event day. Business payment terms can be agreed in advance.
Yes. Qualifying charity bookings receive 25% off the applicable quoted total. Include the charity details when you ask for a quote.
