I photographed ebm-papst UK’s 50th anniversary at its Springfield premises in Chelmsford, Essex, on 12 July 2025. The celebration brought together current and former colleagues and their families, with speeches, live music and activities around the site.

ebm-papst UK’s 50th anniversary, in photographs

For this celebration, ebm-papst UK’s Chelmsford headquarters became the setting for a family day, known as FiftyFest. Colleagues and their families shared food and music, with time set aside to recognise long service.

My coverage includes the speeches and presentations alongside the informal parts of the day. There are conversations at picnic tables, the band playing, children with balloon animals and adults making their way down the inflatable slide. Smaller portraits sit alongside the large group photograph at the top of this page.

The group portraits and branded details sit with the reactions and interactions between them. Together, they give you a fuller view of the occasion than a few photographs of the stage alone.

Behind the photographs

A little about your photographer

I’m Jonathan Owen, an Essex photographer working professionally since 2003. At a company occasion, I’m looking for the people and the setting as well as the planned photographs: who’s speaking, who’s listening and what’s happening elsewhere while everyone’s attention is on the stage.

I work around your running order and can organise group photographs and portraits alongside the natural coverage. You deal directly with me about the plans, and I personally select and edit the finished photographs.
