Wedding photography at Leigh Community Centre
Elaine and Denis married at Leigh Community Centre in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, on 23 May 2026, after around 40 years together. About 75 friends and family joined them, with the ceremony in the Lower Hall and reception drinks at The Ironworks café/bar.
Elaine wanted natural photographs without the day becoming a succession of posed portraits. I photographed the wedding from 4pm to 6.30pm: guests arriving, the ceremony, drinks, cake cutting and the beginning of the reception. These highlights bring together the two of them and the people sharing the afternoon.

“They are wonderful, thank you so much. Glad we found you to do the photography!”
Elaine and Denis’s wedding, in photographs
The Lower Hall at Leigh Community Centre, 71–73 Elm Road, was dressed with white drapes and fairy lights. My photographs follow Elaine walking through the guests, the couple holding hands and the faces watching from the rows of seats. There are phones held up for pictures and smaller details at the signing table, alongside the wider story of the ceremony.
Afterwards, the move into The Ironworks gave everyone time for a drink and a conversation. The gallery includes laughter around the tables, a guest and a child sharing a moment, children outside and a small group beneath the decorations. Natalie Solomons and Kiwi Productions coordinated the event.

Keeping the photography comfortable
Elaine had told me she was nervous about being photographed. For this wedding, I kept the coverage quiet and observational, with a few informal group photographs alongside it. The attention stayed on the ceremony and the people in the room, rather than repeatedly taking the couple away from their guests.
That balance is something you can discuss with me for your own wedding. If you would like organised family groups or some portraits together, we can plan those in. If your priority is predominantly natural coverage, I can work around that too.

Your photographer
Based in Leigh-on-Sea, photographing across Essex
I’m Jonathan Owen, an Essex photographer based in Leigh-on-Sea and working professionally since 2003. I photograph weddings and other events with an eye on the people taking part: the couple, the guests watching and the conversations happening between the planned moments.
You can tell me what matters to you, including how much direction you would like. I handle your photography personally, from discussing the plans to selecting and editing the finished photographs. For a wedding at Leigh Community Centre or another Essex venue, start with your date, location and the part of the day you would like covered.
