NOIR featuring Yaya at Gallery, London: nightclub photography
Yaya behind the booth, raised hands and faces caught in the club lighting: this black and white collection is from NOIR at Gallery in Kensington, London, on 3 May 2026.
The night was promoted by Noir Underground, with Yaya heading a bill that also listed David Lowe, J Young and FUZE. My photographs move between the booth and the dance floor, with closer portraits and wider crowd scenes giving different views of the same event.

Yaya, the DJ booth and the NOIR dance floor
The DJ photographs include Yaya at the booth, with closer portraits and a view of him smiling and gesturing beside the mixer. Around those pictures are dancers, hands raised towards the booth and quieter portraits at the edge of the crowd. Raised arms, phones, drinks and sparklers sit alongside the faces and silhouettes, with the NOIR sign placing the photographs within the night.
The black and white treatment keeps the changes in light, expression and shape running through the sequence. Select a photograph to view it larger. The original NOIR event listing gives the date and advertised line-up; the Gallery venue website has information about the club.
Photographing the performance and the dance floor together
The photographs of Yaya move from a closer profile to a view of him behind the mixer, with the crowd and overhead lights framing the booth. Around the booth, there’s another part of the story happening in the people dancing, greeting one another and watching the music unfold.
I’ve kept the wider, darker scenes beside the closer portraits. The silhouettes show the space and movement, while the faces bring you closer to the people in it. Small details, including a hand above the mixer or glasses catching the light, help connect those different views.

Behind the camera
The Essex photographer behind this London club collection
I’m Jonathan Owen, an Essex photographer working professionally since 2003. Music events give me performances to follow and people to photograph around them, from a close view of the booth to what’s happening across the dance floor.
You can plan your coverage with me directly, including performance times, access and any particular photographs you need. I personally select and edit the finished images, bringing the performers, crowd and setting together in your collection.
